RIVIERA BEACH, Fla. | The Florida Memorial University Palm Beach County Alumni Chapter hosted a successful benefit event on Sunday, July 19, at the Richard and Annie Brooks Community Center, bringing together alumni, community leaders, student-athletes, and supporters for an afternoon dedicated to advancing FMU Athletics.

The event welcomed a strong turnout of Lion supporters and was highlighted by the attendance of Riviera Beach Mayor Douglas Lawson, whose presence showcased the city's support for FMU Athletics.

Guests enjoyed an afternoon of fellowship, networking, refreshments, and the opportunity to meet FMU Athletics' leadership and coaching staff. The event also featured exciting prize giveaways, including televisions and microwaves, adding to the celebratory atmosphere and community engagement.

One of the afternoon's most meaningful moments came as the Palm Beach County Alumni Chapter presented a $500 donation to the new 1879 FMU Athletics Roar Fund, the Athletics Department official giving initiative dedicated to enhancing the student-athletes experience through scholarships, resources, academic success, health and wellness, and competitive opportunities.

The benefit event embodied the spirit of FMU Athletics, while showcasing the lasting impact of alumni and community support.

"The incredible support of our Palm Beach County Alumni Chapter and community reminds us that FMU Athletics is more than competition; it's family," said Director of Athletics, Chandra Dorsey-Felton. "Every gift and every act of generosity creates new opportunities for our student-athletes to thrive in the classroom, in competition, and in life."
