Former FMU All-American Mitchell Named to Detroit Pistons' NBA Summer League Roster

DETRIOT, Mich. | Former Florida Memorial University men's basketball player has been named to the 2026 Detroit Pistons Summer League Roster. Mitchell joins the 12-man team, as a forward and will wear No. 56.

"Definitely can say I'm super grateful for the opportunity and excited to be apart of the pistons summer league team," said Mitchell. "Thanks to all my teammates, fans and staff that supported me throughout all the great moments while I was attending Florida Memorial University, on to the next level!"

Mitchell played for FMU during the 2023-24 and 2024-25 seasons. In those years, he led the team in points per game both seasons and was named to First-Team All-SUN Conference in both seasons. In the 2024-25 season, Mitchell was selected as the SUN Conference Men's Basketball Player of the Year, as well as named Third-Team All-America for the NAIA.

Following his collegiate career, Mitchell played for the Irish Guide Dogs Ballincollig in Ballina, Ireland in the Irish Superleague. His presence was shown on the court, where he averaged 21.8 points per game, 12.4 rebounds, and two assists. He led the team to a league-best 17-5 record and was named the 2025-26 Irish Superleague Player of the Year. He led the team to the 2025-26 Irish Superleague championship, in his first year playing overseas. Mitchell also finished the season second in the league in scoring.

The Pistons, guaranteed, five games, will play four preliminary games from July 9-15. The Summer League will feature all 30 NBA teams, with the top four teams after four games will play in the semifinals on July 18, with the championship game on July 19. The 26 teams not playing in the semifinals will play a fifth game on either July 17 or 18. All games will be played on the campus of the University of Nevada in Las Vegas.

Mitchell joins a star-studded roster that includes 2026 NBA Draft No. 17 overall pick, Ebuka Okorie, and No. 53 overall pick, Ugonna Onyenso. The Pistons will be led by Summer League head coach, Steve Scalzi.
