Kathryn "Katie" Hogan joined the FMU family as head women's volleyball coach in Summer 2027.
Hogan has a proven reputation on both the indoor and beach circuits, competing at the highest levels domestically and internationally.
She began her college career at Miami Dade College, where as a sophomore, she led the team in kills and total points to lead MDC to a 30-4 record, a Florida Junior College State Championship, and a spot in the NJCAA National Championship Finals. Her dominant net play earned her back-to-back All-Conference honors and an NJCAA All-Tournament Team selection.
Hogan then transferred to Florida International University (FIU), playing two seasons of indoor and anchoring the beach program under Olympic legend Rita Buck-Crockett. During her senior indoor season in 2016, Hogan started every match, leading the Panthers with 329 kills and racking up 10 double-doubles on the year. Her performance earned her a spot on the Conference USA (C-USA) All-Conference Team. On the sand, she was equally competitive, leading the Panthers' lineup at the No. 1 flight and the team deep into the CCSA Conference Tournament, earning multiple CCSA First Team Honors and MVP awards for both sports.
After college, Hogan transitioned seamlessly into the professional beach circuit, competing both domestically and internationally. She claimed a major career milestone by winning a championship title on Kerri Walsh Jennings' p1440 International Tour in 2018, followed by capturing three separate championship titles across European International Tours. Domestically, she remains a fixture on the AVP and (former) NVL tours, securing multiple podium finishes, highlighting two career runner-up (Long Beach 2017, Hermosa 2019) a third-place finish at the 2025 AVP (Palm Beach), and numerous top-10 finishes on the AVP Tour.
Hogan's coaching footprint is deeply rooted in South Florida across the collegiate, high school, and club ranks. Locally, she previously served a season as the Head Beach Volleyball Coach at St. Thomas University (2023).
Off the college campus, Hogan is known for mentoring and developing young talent in the region. She has served at local high schools as the head coach and operates as a dedicated college recruitment consultant, helping athletes find pathways to the next level. In 2022, she founded Diamond Volleyball Academy, serving as its Owner and Director. Under her leadership, the academy ran elite, year-round training programs and community open gyms with a heavy focus on female mentorship to her young athletes.
A native of Scott City, Missouri, her legacy is one of the region's most versatile elite athletes, capturing a Class 2 Indoor Volleyball State Championship in 2009. All four years, she earned All-State, All-Region, All-District, and All-Conference accolades, as well as multiple Standard Democrat and SE Missourian Player of the Year honors.
On the basketball court, Hogan was equally dominant. A prolific scorer, she surpassed the prestigious 2,000-career-point milestone and 1,000-career-rebound milestone for the Rams. Her hooping career included multiple All-State, All-Region, All-District, and All-Conference selections, leading her squad to deep postseason runs and earning her another BA Sports Player of the Year title.
Hogan holds degrees in Business Administration and Management from FIU and Miami Dade College.
