LEBANNON, Tenn. | Florida Memorial University dropped its second game of the season, following a 41-14 loss to Cumberland. The Lions kept pace with the Phoenix for the first quarter and a half of the game, but the Phoenix pulled away, and FMU couldn't keep up.
The first quarter went scoreless before CU scored in the second to go up 7-0. FMU answered with the equalizer, off a 19-yard pass from senior
David Buggs to receiver
Jason Gabriel. Cumberland scored twice after that to make the score 21-7 at the half, but the Lions made it a one-score game in the third quarter off an eight-yard rushing touchdown from senior
Nygel Osborne to make the score 21-14. Cumberland pulled away for the rest of the game, scoring 20 unanswered points following the Osborne TD, handing FMU a 41-14 loss.
Buggs finished the day 17-of-35 for 208 passing yards and one touchdown, along with three interceptions and one sack. He also rushed for 21 yards on 4 carries. Osborne led the ground game with 38 yards on 12 carries. In the air, Hopkins led all receivers with 86 yards on six catches.

Jermaine Dalias led the team in tackles with 13 total, followed by teammates
Jonathan Powers and
Vartrell Batten with 11 each. Batten and teammate
Zayvion McCluster each had a forced fumble in the game, with one pass breakup coming from McCluster. Sophomore
Sean Egloff Vega made both of his PATs.
The loss drops FMU to 2-2 on the season.
