Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 SARASOTA, Fla. | Florida Memorial University returned for the first time in the 2026 season against conference rival Warner in the season opener. Despite falling 3-0 (25-20, 25-14, 27-25), the Lions stayed in the fight, even taking the final set to extra points and taking the lead in the final stages, before falling to the Royals in the closing minutes. In game two against William Carey, they carried that same energy, battling fiercely against WCU before falling in three sets (25-13, 25-9, 25-14).

In game one, Junior, Serena Edwards, led the team in kills with five, while teammates Leila Betancourt and Heaven Crouse led in aces with a pair apiece. Junior L'fe Roberts led the team in blocks with two, while Betancourt led in assists with nine. On defense, newcomer Abril Jaramillo Diaz led the way with 12 digs, while Crouse added 10 for the Lions.

In game two, Roberts led the team in kills with five and blocks with three, while Diaz and Betancourt each had an ace apiece. Betancourt led the team in assists with six, while Crouse led in digs wit six.

The losses drop FMU to 0-2 to start the season.

The Lions return to action Saturday, August 15, for round three of the NCF Invitational against Bethel (Ind.). First serve is slated for 9 a.m. at the Hal Chasey Gymnasium in Sarasota, Fla.
