MIAMI GARDENS, Fla. | Florida Memorial University has named Jarius Marlow as the new co-defensive coordinator/defensive back coach. Marlow brings decades of experience to the Lions defense that broke many records during the 2025 season.

"I truly believe that God has placed me here for this specific season and purpose. I am committed to doing everything I can to advance the University's vision and mission while helping elevate the football program to new heights."

"Coach Marlow aligns perfectly with the vision of the University and our football team, emphasizing the development of the total student-athlete both on and off the field," said head football coach Michael Jones. His commitment to excellence and player growth makes him a great fit for our culture. Coming from a defensive system that ranked in the top 25 nationally in points allowed per game and top 15 in interceptions. Coach Marlow has consistently demonstrated the ability to lead high-performing units. In addition, his experience contributing to special teams adds further value to our staff. We're excited about the energy, leadership, and expertise Coach Marlow brings as we continue building our program."

Marlow previously spent two seasons at St. Thomas University as the co-defensive coordinator and special teams coordinator. In his final season, STU had both its kicker and punter named to First-Team All-Conference in addition to the Special Teams Player of the Year. The special teams unit scored six total touchdowns that season, led the country in punt return yards, and was top 10 in the country in kick return average.

In 2024, STU's defensive was top five in the country in interceptions and led the country in defensive touchdowns.

Marlow spent three seasons at Chowan University, two as special teams coordinator and one as the defensive coordinator. He also served as the defensive back coach and special teams coordinator at Lyon College.

Marlow coached at Gannon University for three seasons, where he served as the defensive backs coach for his first two seasons and defensive coordinator in his third season.

Marlow served as the corner backs coach at MacMurray College. He helped with community relations and facilities for the Highlanders.

Prior to MacMurray, Marlow served as an offensive intern at Saint Vincent following his collegiate career.

In 2025, the FMU Football defense had arguably its best season in program history. The highlight came against Thomas, where they held an opponent to a program-low seven points, and a program-low 122 total yards. The team landed four defensive players on the Sun All-Conference teams, three on first-team and one on second-team.
