FMU Losses to Keiser in Volleyball

The Lions drop a hard fought match to Keiser University on Wednesday night.

In the first set the Lions came on strong and were in control the entire set. The Seahawks would pull within one point at 17-16 but the Lions pulled away and captured the first set 25-19. The Lions hit a .235 hitting percentage compared to the Seahawks .133.

In the second set Keiser jumped out to a 7-3 lead and never looked back. The Seahawks had an astonishing .619 hitting percentage compared to the Lions .273 hitting percentage. Leading the way for the Lions was Sammyra Albarran with 6 kills. Kaeiser captured the second set 25-16 and tied things up at one set a piece.

In the third set both teams kept fighting as the score was close throughout. Abbie Seward led Keiser with 7 kills in the third set and the Lions spread the ball around very well as Jesennia Bonilla, Ivana Maric, and Sammyra Bonnila each had three kills. The Lions captured the third set 25-22.

In the fourth set the Seahawks were determined to push a fifth set as the Lions could not get much of anything going. Keiser led from the start as Jordan Odom had 5 kills and Sammyra Albarran led the Lions with 4 kills. The Seahawks defense was too strong forcing the Lions into a .000 hitting percentage.

The fifth set was exciting as both teams would fight to the very end. Keiser would open up a 5-2 lead only to see the Lions come back and make it a one point game at 6-5. The Seahawks would make another push and open up a 9-5 lead and the Lions fought hard again behind Francheska Rivera's serves. She took the Lions on a run and put the Lions ahead at 12-10. After a Keiser timeout the Seahawks went on a five point run to put the Lions away and capture the match 15-12.

The Lions will play this Saturday, October 13th at Webber University.
