Kevin Harris joined the FMU family as assistant women's basketball coach in Summer 2026.
Harris arrives in Miami after two seasons as an coach at NCAA Division I Norfolk State, three seasons as an assistant coach at NCAA Division II Virginia State, and one season as an assistant coach at NCAA Division 1 North Carolina Wilmington.
During the 2025-26 season with UNCW, Harris helped the team to a No. 2 conference ranking in three-point field goal percentage.
During his tenure at Virginia State he assisted with two straight 20-plus win seasons in 2023-24 and 2024-25. In addition to the two 20-plus winning seasons, Harris played a key role in developing four First Team All-CIAA selections, the CIAA Defensive Player of the Year, and two All-CIAA Second Team honorees.
During the 2024-25 season, the Trojans posted a record of 23-7, including a 14-2 record in Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association. Virginia State made the NCAA Atlantic Region Tournament and finished runner-up at the Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association Tournament.
In 2023-24, the Trojans went 23-5 and reached the semifinals of the CIAA Tournament.
Harris spent two seasons at the NCAA Division I level with Norfolk State's women's basketball program. After serving as director of operations in 2020-21, Harris was elevated to assistant coach for the 2021-22 campaign. As an assistant coach, Harris developed players who earned First Team All-MEAC and Second Team All-MEAC honors.
In 2021-22, he helped the Spartans finish 17-12 overall and 11-3 in Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference play. The Spartans reached the conference championship game and earned a berth in the WNIT.
Harris began his career as the girls' basketball head coach from 2018-20 at Salem High School in Virginia Beach, Va. He led the Sun Devils to a 29-20 record and two postseason appearances. He coached a pair of first-team all-region players and three all-conference honorees.
In addition to his coaching duties, he served as a special education teacher assistant and an academic counselor for student-athletes.
