Irene Lainez joined the FMU women's soccer team in Fall 2025.

A native to Miami, Fla., Lainez previously attended Millennia Atlantic University from 2024-2025, where she played on the women's soccer team. She also attended Atlantis University from 2021-2023. Lainez graduated from Dr. Michael M. Krop High School in 2021, where she won the 2021 District Championship and was named Most Athletic Sophomore in 2019. Lainez played for WPSL AGC and UPSL Miami Grove in 2021 and 2022.

Lainez chose FMU because they offered her an opportunity to continue her studies and also to continue playing soccer because she thought it was over for her but she's happy to be here and she's ready to work hard and win a title. Her favorite part about FMU are the bonds she's created with her teammates, who she calls her second family.

Favorite/most memorable sports experience: During her school softball season she was playing center field, she threw the ball straight to home plate and got the second base runner out.
