Lions struggle in home match against No. 11 Keiser

MIAMI GARDENS, Fla. | Florida Memorial University fell to No. 11 Keiser in its home match at Dr. Lester Brown Park, 4-1. FMU kept pace with the Seahawks in the first half, but the match got away in the second half, despite the team's goal coming in the final 45 minutes.

Keiser scored first in the eighth minute, but the Lions exchanged possession and shots in the first to keep pressure and have a chance at tying the match. Unfortunately, the Seahawks pulled away to a bigger lead, with their second goal in the 54th minute, going up 2-0. Senior Rafael Coronado answered the call to cut the lead in half, with his second goal of the season to make the match 2-1. KU scored a pair of goals following that to put the match out of reach. Despite outshooting Keiser 14-11, FMU fell to the Seahawks for its third straight loss.

Goalkeeper Juan Mora played all 90 minutes, allowing four goals with three saves.

The loss drops FMU to 1-3-1 on the year.

FMU returns to action Saturday, September 19, for a Saturday night match against Florida National. Kickoff is slated for 7 p.m. at Orange Bowl Field at Ives Estates Park.
